The Process
How Bail Bonds Work
The bail process can feel overwhelming when you're in the middle of it. Here's exactly what happens — and what we do to get your family member home as fast as possible.
Someone Gets Arrested
When a person is arrested, they are taken to a local jail and booked. During booking, their information is recorded and they are held until a bail amount is set by a judge.
Booking can take anywhere from a few hours to overnight depending on the jail and the charge.
Bail Is Set by a Judge
At an arraignment or bail hearing, a judge sets the bail amount based on the severity of the charge, the defendant's criminal history, and their ties to the community. The full bail amount must be paid to secure release.
Bail amounts in Louisiana can range from a few hundred dollars to hundreds of thousands depending on the charge.
You Call Booty Bail Bonds
You call us with the defendant's name, the jail they're being held at, and the bail amount. We walk you through the paperwork, explain the costs clearly, and get started immediately.
We answer calls nights, weekends, and holidays. The sooner you call, the sooner we can act.
We Post the Bond
We pay the full bail amount to the court on behalf of the defendant. In exchange, you pay us a 12% premium plus a $30 jail fee. Fines are separate and not covered by the bond.
The 12% premium is set by Louisiana state law and is non-refundable.
Your Loved One Is Released
Once the bond is posted, the jail processes the release. Most clients are out within a few hours. The defendant must appear at all scheduled court dates — failure to appear can result in the bond being forfeited.
We stay in contact with you throughout the process and can answer questions along the way.
Court Appearances
The defendant is required to appear at all court dates. When the case is resolved — whether dismissed, acquitted, or sentenced — the bond is exonerated and our obligation ends.
If the defendant misses a court date, a bench warrant will be issued for their arrest. Warrant fines are extra and not covered by the bond — contact us immediately.
Common Questions
Quick Answers
What do I need to get started?
You need the defendant's full name, the jail or detention facility they're being held at, and the bail amount set by the judge. We handle everything else.
How long does release take?
Once the bond is posted, release typically takes a few hours. Processing times vary by jail and how busy they are. We work as fast as the system allows.
What is the 12% premium?
Louisiana state law sets the bail bond premium at 12% of the total bail amount. This fee is paid to us for posting the bond and is non-refundable regardless of the outcome of the case.
What happens if the defendant misses court?
If the defendant fails to appear in court, a bench warrant will be issued for their arrest. The bond may be forfeited and warrant fines will apply — these are extra and not covered by the bond. Contact us immediately if this happens — we can help you understand your options.
